MAN CHARGED FOR MAKING FALSE BOMB THREAT AT MAYWOOD COURTHOUSE

Thursday, March 6, 2014 A 34-year-old Cicero man has been charged with making a false bomb threat at the Maywood Courthouse, Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart said today.

Carlos DavilaAbout 10:40 a.m. on Tuesday, Maywood Police notified Sheriff’s Police that it had received a phone call relaying a bomb threat on the Maywood Courthouse. The call had come from a payphone inside that courthouse.

Using footage from the courthouse’s surveillance cameras, sheriff’s deputies were able to identify a suspect who used a payphone at the time the threat was made. The man, later identified as Carlos Davila, was located inside the courthouse and was taken into custody.

The building was searched. No suspicious items were found.

Davila was charged with felony disorderly conduct – false bomb threat. His bond was set at $15,000 during a bond hearing Wednesday at the Maywood Courthouse. He also received no bond on his original retail theft charge.

Sheriff Dart reminds the public that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty by the government.
