DEPUTIES FIND CHILD PORN IN HOME OF
MAN BEING EVICTED

—A Chicago man is free on bond after deputies found child pornography in the home from which he was being evicted, Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart announced Monday.
John Buddeke, 53, of the 1600 block of West Jarvis Avenue, is charged with aggravated possession of child pornography, a felony. His bond was set at $50,000 on Saturday and on Sunday, he posted 10 percent of that and was released.
On Thursday, Cook County Sheriff’s deputies arrived at his home to conduct an eviction related to unpaid property taxes. Buddeke answered the door and allowed deputies inside, but was attempting to go upstairs and out of view of the deputies. They ordered him to remain on the lower level and in plain view while they secured the residence. Once upstairs, they saw Buddeke’s personal computer was on and on the screen were images of naked children performing sexual acts on other children and adults.
In a subsequent interview, Buddeke told investigators with the Cook County Sheriff’s Child Exploitation Unit that he has been downloading child pornography for nearly 20 years. Investigators recovered floppy discs and hard drives which contained images of children, including children under the age of 12, engaged in sexual acts.
Buddeke’s next court date has not yet been set, but will be heard at 26th-California.
