Monday, July 7, 2014 — A Cook County Sheriff’s Police Child Exploitation Unit and FBI investigation led to the arrest of a 27-year-old man after uncovering more than 400 images and 15 videos of child pornography in his possession, Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart announced today.

Andre AlfaroAndre Alfaro, of the 5700 block of West Addison Street, was taken into custody on July 2 and charged with possession of child pornography, a class 2 felony.

On June 20, 2013, a federal search warrant was executed on Alfaro’s residence based on a child exploitation investigation conducted by the Innocent Images FBI Task Force. Federal authorities seized computers and thumb drives that were then forensically reviewed by the Cook County Sheriff’s Police Child Exploitation Unit and the Regional Computer Forensics Lab.

The investigation uncovered images and videos of children, including children under the age of one, performing sexual acts on other children and adults.

Alfaro appeared in bond court on July 3 at the George N. Leighton Criminal Courts Building where his bond was set at $125,000. His next scheduled court date is July 23.

Sheriff Dart reminds the public that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty by the government in a court of law.
