THREE TEENS ARRESTED IN
FORD HEIGHTS BEATING

— Three teenagers have been charged as juveniles in a beating that severely injured a Ford Heights man who was getting off a bus, Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart said today.
Just after 7 p.m. Wednesday, a 49-year-old man was exiting the bus near Woodlawn Avenue and Diplomat Lane in Ford Heights when one male, who was with group of other people, took the man’s bicycle located at the front of the bus. After the victim got off the bus, he was punched in the face by the male who had taken the bicycle.
Other members of the group also punched and kicked the victim. About six to nine individuals were believed to be involved.
A witness called 9-1-1 to report the beating.
Sheriff’s Police officers found the victim lying on the ground with severe injuries when they arrived. He was taken by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment. He remains hospitalized.
Three 16-year-old boys were later identified as suspects and have since been charged as juveniles.
