BRONZE STAR RECIPIENT, FORMER EUROPEAN BASKETBALL PLAYER AMONG NEW COOK COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICERS

Wednesday, February 6, 2013A U.S. Army Bronze Star recipient and a former basketball player who played professionally in Europe are among the 25 cadets set to graduate from the Cook County Sheriff’s Training Academy today.

Sheriff Thomas J. Dart will preside over the graduation Ceremony 2 p.m. at the Moraine Room in Building M of the Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Hills.

In this graduating class, there are 10 cadets who hold bachelor’s degrees in a wide variety of fields from criminal justice to business to accounting. Two of those cadets also have Master’s degrees.

Two have served in the military, including one who received the U.S. Army’s Bronze Star medal for heroic or meritorious achievement in Afghanistan.

The graduates will begin their law enforcement careers as correctional officers at the Cook County Department of Corrections.
