—Bond has been set at $500,000 for a Park Forest man who got into a car with two friends on Saturday night, then held them up at gunpoint and demanded cash, Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart announced Monday.
Victor Holmes, 22, is charged with two counts of armed robbery. He appeared in Markham bond court on Sunday and remains in the Cook County Jail.
Two longtime friends of Holmes said they were talking in a parked car at 11th Street and Seeley Avenue in Ford Heights, when Holmes arrived and got in the back seat. As they talked, Holmes suddenly produced a handgun and demanded cash from both. The victims turned over a total of $60 and a cell phone before Holmes fled. The victims told investigators they’ve known Holmes their entire adult lives and saw him enter the vehicle, so they were able to provide a detailed description of his appearance. They also said they are unsure why he robbed them. Sheriff’s patrol officers quickly found Holmes just a couple blocks away and placed him under arrest without incident.
Holmes’ next court date is set for Sept. 7 in Markham.
