SHERIFF’S CENTRAL WARRANT UNIT ARRESTS MAN WANTED IN ROCKFORD SHOOTING

—The Cook County Sheriff’s Central Warrant Unit arrested a man wanted for a June 2012 shooting in Rockford, Sheriff Thomas J. Dart said today.
Donald Harvey, 50, was taken into custody at approximately 11 p.m. Thursday after the Sheriff’s Central Warrant Unit located him at a Chicago shelter, where he was listed under the alias of Ron Harken. He was positively identified and arrested without incident.
According to the Winnebago County records, he is wanted for shooting a woman with a shotgun on June 15, 2012 and then pointing the loaded shotgun at the woman’s daughter and threatening to shoot her.
The $1 million arrest warrant is for two counts of attempted first degree murder and one count of unlawful use of a weapon.
Harvey appeared at the Maywood Courthouse today where bond was set at $1 million.
Sherriff Dart reminds the public that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty by the government in a court of law.
