SHERIFF’S OFFICE CONDUCTING TRAFFIC SAFETY CHECKPOINT IN MAYWOOD
Friday, April 24, 2015
— Cook County Sheriff’s Police will conduct a roadside safety checkpoint tomorrow (Saturday) night through early Sunday morning in Maywood, Sheriff Thomas J. Dart said today.
At the checkpoint officers will ensure drivers are complying with Illinois driver's license and registration requirements as well as determine whether anyone is driving impaired.
The checkpoint's aim is to emphasize roadway safety, increase seatbelt usage by motorists, promote the importance of safe travel, and help reduce the number of vehicle crashes in Cook County.
During a March 13 nighttime roadside safety checkpoint in Robbins, Sheriff’s Police made an arrest for driving under the influence, two drug related arrests, and two arrests for suspended/revoked licenses. They issued three seatbelt citations and 15 uninsured motorist citations.
This weekend’s checkpoint is funded through a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation.
