SHERIFF’S OFFICE TO CONDUCT SPECIALIZED ENFORCEMENT PATROLS
Thursday, November 20, 2014
—Cook County Sheriff’s Police will be conducting significant countywide enforcement efforts beginning Friday, Sheriff Thomas J. Dart said today.
The enhanced patrols, which focus on seatbelt law violators, run Friday (tomorrow) to Nov. 26 and from Nov. 28 to Nov. 30.
Sheriff’s Police will also conduct a roadside safety check on Friday (tomorrow) night in Central Stickney. At the checkpoint officers will ensure drivers are complying with Illinois driver's license and registration requirements as well as determine whether anyone is driving impaired.
The checkpoint's aim is to emphasize roadway safety, increase seatbelt usage by motorists, promote the importance of safe travel, and help reduce the number of vehicle crashes in Cook County.
The enhanced patrols and safety checkpoint are funded through a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation.
