SHERIFF’S OFFICE TO CONDUCT SPECIALIZED ENFORCEMENT PATROLS
Saturday, December 20, 2014
—Cook County Sheriff’s Police will be conducting significant countywide enforcement efforts beginning Sunday, Sheriff Thomas J. Dart said today.
The enhanced patrols, which focus on seatbelt law violators, will run Sunday (tomorrow) to Dec. 23, Dec. 28 to Dec.30, and Jan. 2 to Jan. 4.
Sheriff’s Police will also conduct a roadside safety check on the night of Dec. 30 in Maine Township. At the checkpoint officers will ensure drivers are complying with Illinois driver's license and registration requirements as well as determine whether anyone is driving impaired.
The checkpoint's aim is to emphasize roadway safety, increase seatbelt usage by motorists, promote the importance of safe travel, and help reduce the number of vehicle crashes in Cook County.
The enhanced patrols and the safety checkpoint are funded through grants from the Illinois Department of Transportation.
