SHERIFF’S OFFICE TO CONDUCT SPECIALIZED ENFORCEMENT PATROLS
Friday, August 22, 2014 — Cook County Sheriff’s Police will be conducting significant enforcement efforts beginning today, focusing on seatbelt violations in Cook County, Sheriff Thomas J. Dart said today.
Officers will be conducting seatbelt enforcement today, Aug. 22 - Aug. 27 and Aug. 29 - Sep. 1.
In a similar enforcement from June 22 to July 5, 2014, Sheriff’s Police issued 131 seat belt citations and discovered 22 individuals driving with suspended or revoked licenses. Over the course of that enforcement three fugitives were apprehended.
These enhanced patrols are all funded through a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation. -
