DOZENS OF CITATIONS ISSUED DURING ST. PATRICK’S DAY WEEKEND ENFORCEMENT
Wednesday, April 2, 2014 —Cook County Sheriff’s Police issued dozens of citations and made six arrests during a countywide specialized enforcement over St. Patrick’s Day weekend, Sheriff Thomas J. Dart said today.
The enforcement period, of March 13 to March 16, focused on seatbelt enforcement. Sheriff’s Police officers issued 41 citations for seatbelt violations during that time. Police also made three arrests for reckless driving, two for driving on a suspended/revoked license, and one drug-related arrest.
Sheriff’s Police also conducted a roadside safety checkpoint in Chicago Heights on the night of March 14. Officers at the checkpoint made a driving under the influence of drugs arrest and four arrests for driving on a suspended/revoked license.
The checkpoint and the enforcement patrols were funded through a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation.
