SHERIFF’S POLICE INVESTIGATE VANDALISM IN ALPINE HEIGHTS

Home > Press Page

Monday, August 10, 2009 — Cook County Sheriff’s Police are investigating an overnight vandalism spree that occurred in the Alpine Heights subdivision of unincorporated Orland Township, according to the office of Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart.

Nearly 20 cases of property defacement were reported during the morning hours of Wednesday, August 5th.  Many residents woke up to find that their vehicles and homes had been spray painted with various symbols, including ethnic slurs and pornographic images.  Officials believe the paint used in this vandalism spree was stolen from a residential garage in the area.  The vehicle in that garage was also defaced.  The theft of a motor cross bike was also reported in the area.

Residents were able to remove the offending paint from their vehicles and homes without further damage being done to their property.

Anyone with information about the vandalism that occurred in Alpine Heights is asked to contact the Cook County Sheriff’s Police Investigations Unit at (708) 865-4896.
